When you place an order through ExpertVoice, your payment is processed in a few secure steps to ensure everything goes smoothly. Here’s a breakdown of how payments work, including details about pending authorizations, settlement and reauthorization.
Accepted payment methods
ExpertVoice currently accepts the following forms of payment:
- Credit cards (Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Discover)
- Debit cards
- Apple Pay (available on supported devices and browsers at checkout)
- PayPal (available on supported devices and browsers at checkout)
- Venmo (available on supported devices and browsers at checkout)
Tip: You can use Apple Pay, PayPal or Venmo at checkout as long as your device is set up for the payment method and you’re using a supported browser (e.g., Chrome, Safari or Firefox).
Note: Apple Pay is not currently supported when your cart contains items from multiple brands. For the best experience, try checking out with one brand at a time.
Pending authorization (initial hold)
When you submit an order, your payment method (such as a credit card, debit card, or Apple Pay) is authorized for the total amount. This is not a charge yet. It’s a temporary hold placed by your bank or payment provider to confirm that funds are available.
- This authorization typically appears as a “pending” charge on your bank statement
- It ensures that your payment method can cover the full amount of the order
- No money is withdrawn at this stage
When you’re charged: At the time of shipping
ExpertVoice brands charge your payment only when your item ships—not when you place the order.
- Once your item leaves the warehouse, your payment is captured (settled)
- The previously authorized amount is finalized and your bank reflects it as a completed transaction
- If your order ships in multiple parts, each shipment may be charged separately based on what’s shipped and when
Reauthorization every 7 days
If your order hasn’t shipped within 7 days, our system will automatically reauthorize your payment method. This is a common practice to maintain an active and valid authorization with your bank or payment service.
- The original hold expires after 7 days (per most bank policies)
- A new authorization is placed for the same amount
- This process may repeat weekly until your order ships
- You might see multiple pending charges, but only one will settle (the one corresponding to your shipment)
Important: If your payment method has expired or funds aren’t available during reauthorization, your order may be delayed or canceled. Keep your payment info up to date to avoid issues.
Completed or settled transactions
Once your item is shipped and the payment is captured, the transaction is finalized:
- The authorized hold is replaced by the settled charge
- Your bank statement will show this as a completed payment to ExpertVoice or the brand you purchased from
