Worried about uploading your personal documents to ExpertVoice? We’ve got you covered!
We take your privacy seriously and are committed to protecting your information. Whether you need to redact a paystub or any other document, here’s how to do it right:
Why redact your document?
To protect your sensitive information, you can hide certain details before uploading your documents. Just make sure we can still verify important information, such as your name, identity or employer.
How to cover up important information your paystub or document:
Using your desktop or computer:
-
Choose your tool:
- PDF redaction: If your document is in PDF format, you can use Adobe Acrobat or any other PDF editor. Open the document and use the “Redact” tool to black out sensitive information.
- Image redaction: For JPEG or PNG files, you can use image editing software like Photoshop, GIMP or even basic tools like Paint. Use the brush or rectangle tool to cover up the information you want to hide.
- Online tools: If you don’t have software on your computer, there are online tools like Smallpdf, PDFescape or Redactable that can help you redact documents.
-
Identify what to hide:
- Sensitive details: Black out Social Security Numbers, bank account numbers, employee ID numbers and any other private financial data.
- Confidential information: Remove anything that you consider confidential or that isn’t required for your qualification.
-
Make sure the necessary information is visible:
- Name: Ensure your name and any employment details necessary for your qualification are still visible.
- Proof of identity: Leave your ID information visible if required for your qualification.
-
Save your redacted document:
- Save as a new file: Save your redacted document as a new file to avoid losing the original. Ensure it is in an accepted format (JPEG, PDF, PNG) and under the 25MB size limit.
-
Double-check your work:
- Review the document: Before uploading, review the redacted document to make sure all sensitive information is properly hidden and the required details are clear.

When preparing your file for upload, please adhere to the following guidelines to ensure smooth processing:
- File name length: The name you assign to your file should be concise. Limit it to no more than 12 characters.
- File size: Keep the file size under 25MB. This requirement helps in conserving storage space and ensures faster upload and download times, improving the experience for all users. Large files may slow down the system and can cause upload failures.
If you encounter any issues during the upload process, consider converting your document to one of the accepted formats —JPEG, PDF, or PNG. This conversion can often resolve common problems related to file compatibility.
